A homemade lemon elderberry latte is a comforting, flavorful drink. The key is to mix the syrups with the cold milk before heating to prevent curdling, then combine with your coffee or espresso.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons lemon syrup (recipe below, or store-bought)
-
2 tablespoons GRACE Elderberry Co. elderberry syrup
2 shots espresso or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee (8 ounces)
1 cup milk of your choice (dairy, oat, almond, etc.)
Lemon zest (optional, for garnish)
½ cup water
½ cup white sugar
2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
Quick Lemon Syrup (Optional). If you don't have lemon syrup on hand, you can quickly make a basic one.
Directions
Prepare the Coffee: Pull two shots of espresso or brew 1/2 cup of strong coffee.
Combine Syrups and Milk: In a small saucepan, combine the cold milk, lemon syrup, and elderberry syrup. Stir well to ensure the syrups are fully mixed in.
Heat and Froth the Milk: Gently heat the milk mixture over medium heat until hot but not boiling. Whisk or use an immersion blender/steam wand to froth the milk to your desired consistency.
Assemble the Latte: Pour the espresso or coffee into a large mug.
Add Frothed Milk: Pour the frothed lemon elderberry milk into the mug with the coffee.
Garnish and Serve: Garnish with a pinch of fresh lemon zest if desired. Enjoy your latte immediately.
Recipe Note
For the quick lemon syrup:
- In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup white sugar, and 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
- Remove from heat, add a little lemon zest, stir, and let it cool completely before using.
- Filter out the zest before adding to the milk mixture.
